Its finally a Friday, after much awaiting since Monday. Geez! I always qi1 pan4 weekends to arrive sooner but dreaded it when Sunday is nearing. Guess this is the mentality of most working personnels.
One more work week has passed. With no-one to remind me not to take junkies. Stay far from Old Chang Khee or to refrain from fast food. No-one to ask me out for jogs; I wonder when is the next time I step into B.Gombak stadium. Really nice environment there, especially the hill and the freshness of the air. And most important of all, the companion I used to have. Everything seems just yesterday... ...I won't mind the distant nor sweat, if she ask me there for a jog again.
Oh man, I'm getting into this again. Ok ok, I know I gotta stop reminiscising. Thanks to those whom have been supportive during this hard time. All the consoling, I really appreciate. I would have given way if not for you guys. I know its not easy to pick up one self, nevertheless, I will try my best. Life has to go on *Winkz*
Oh ya, share one good news. Got a board up today. Haha! Don't get much chance to do hands on or trouble-shoot ever since I joined as my mentor is around. But for the past few days, he is hold up by some report (took too long to complete la). So I got this opportunity to "play" and explore more of these "toys". Really interesting.
My mentor is a nice guy actually. Quiet, but don't carry himself well. Ha! I sense some similarities between him and me. The thing I dislike about him is that he is too dependent on others, can't make timely decisions and overly paranoid. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not back stabbing him here, just voicing out how I feel. Hope he don't get to see this post. Keke!
Whenever problems surface, he will direct it to one of our technician or some other pitiful souls. No doubt my mentor is less experienced than the technician, but he's holding the title of an engineer! An exempt staff! I feel he should hold more responsbility and handle tasks with enthusiam; instead of pushing to others. What if one fateful day, the technician fall sick? We all stop work? Production line stops operating? All projects put on hold? This is a no-no behaviour for an engineer, we have to learn (absorb too) things and be more dependent on ourselves. A technician doesn't draw as much pay but carries a heavier work load, ridiculous!
And when it comes to making decisions, he's always at lost. He will put one hand on his mouth, a gesture that he is into deep thoughs, which I don't quite like it. After some slient moments of thinking, naturally, you will expect an output from him. But no! He will wait for that technician or me to provide him with solutions or recommendations. ZzZzZz BIG time.
And I feel that he's too dan3 xiao3. For instance, simple things like sending mails to get things moving, he will hesitate. Guess he don't wish to offend others, or put it in a nice way, don't wanna add on to their work load. Crap! I would simply go ahead with the mails, and if need be, cc to bosses. There are tasks that needs others attention and dateline has to be met. So why not just send out instruction and get things done? Its their job scope, something which they are suppose to do. If they were to feel offended, so be it. Its not as if we are going against law.
One last thing, please polish your technical skills. Not saying that I'm damn "solid" here. But there were instances where he can't solve the issues; ended up, I'm the one doing it or explaining to some superiors. You being a degree holder; when I'm still pursuing one, don't make sense right? Plus your number of years in this firm. Ha! I wonder if my current pay hits 3/4 of his. When I face difficulties on work, and can't solve, you think I have the confidence to approach my mentor for enlightenment?
Hiaz! I already have some private problems, yet I have to bear with such troubles. Huo3 Shang4 Jia1 You2 (Add oil on fire)? Guess I gotta put in hell lots of effort to pick things up in the shortest possible time. If not I shall sink with him or be dumb-founded when my subordinates ask help from me.
